RAPIDGate Adds Security to Barbers Point

The RAPIDGate® program, one of SureID’s premier physical security solutions, is now available at the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station at Barbers Point.

About Barbers Point

The men and women of USCG Air Station Barbers Point are known as the “Guardians of the Pacific.” They support the United States Coast Guard District 14 – the largest Coast Guard area of responsibility – covering more than 12.2 million square miles of land and sea.

This vast area requires long-range patrols, logistical support operations and, when needed, quick and versatile search, rescue or response missions.  That is why the Coast Guard personnel living and working at USCG Air Station Barbers Point are critical to providing safety and security in the Pacific. To do their jobs to the best of their abilities, these dedicated service men and women deserve proven physical security solutions for the base they call home. That’s where the RAPIDGate program fits in.
A Major Force in Force Protection

The RAPIDGate program provides an enterprise-wide identity management system that includes registration, screening, rapid validation and proof of identity processes for:

  • Vendors
  • Contractors
  • Subcontractors
  • Suppliers
  • Service providers
  • Others who may require access to the base

At Barbers Point, the enrollment process began 10/21/2016 credentials have already been issued for the base. The RAPIDGate program takes full effect on December 1 and will require non-CAC card holders to have either a day pass or a RAPIDGate credential to access the installation.

This new installation is one of nine facilities to launch the RAPIDGate program in the last year, including:

All told, this year the RAPIDGate program has registered and verified more than 3,400 new companies with more than 78,000 employees. Bringing these companies and their employees under the RAPIDGate umbrella allows for increased security and improved efficiency. According to Steve Larson, CEO of SureID, “The RAPIDGate program enables vendors, contractors and others doing business with the Coast Guard to spend more time on their work instead of waiting in line at the Pass and ID office.”
