AST Honors RAPIDGate with Two Astor Awards

American Security Today (AST), the “New Face of Homeland Security”, recently honored SureID® with two special Astor awards for our RAPIDGate® program. SureID competed among dozens of other physical security companies and government agencies, picking up two awards.

We received a Platinum Astor Award for Best Access Control Authentication, plus a Gold Astor Award for Best Integrated System for HSPD-12 & FIPS 201 Compliance. HSPD-12 is the Homeland Security Presidential Directive that mandates a common identification standard for federal employees and contractors.

AST and its awards program was organized to recognize the most distinguished vendors of physical, IT, port security, law enforcement, first responders, (Fire, EMT, military, support services for vets, SBA, medical technology) as well as the federal, state, county and municipal government agencies. The AST Astor Awards acknowledges their outstanding efforts to keep our nation secure, one city at a time.

“As we’ve seen in numerous homeland security programs created over the last 15 years, comprehensive identity assurance includes secure and efficient enrollment processes,” said Justin Oberman, SureID’s new Vice President for Identity Strategy. “Identity assurance also includes extensive vetting thorough adjudication, the issuance of protected credentials, and reliable access management tools and protocols.”

SureID is a leader in this innovative approach, supporting more than 300 million certified facility entries for the U.S. Department of Defense. Oberman set up and ran much of TSA’s vetting and credentialing programs and participated in the development of HSPD-12. In his new role at SureID, Oberman will focus on bringing these capabilities to other entities.
